New: The Foraged Collection

As I have been going through my different ceramic designs this year, I have been trying to organize and formalize some of my favorite things to make.

I have been very drawn to making nature inspired things and using patterns and forms inspired by folk art. I have formalized some of these into my Foraged Collection. If you think this looks a WHOLE lot like my fall collection, you are not wrong.

This collection is surely going to expand over time. I already have a few ideas for the next pieces that will be added. So far this year, I have had a lot of fun making these pieces and they have all found their way into your homes, especially during fall and Christmas, which makes me very happy.

This year I began making these acorn boxes and they have soon become a favorite.

.

The bottom bowls are glazed on the inside and left raw on the outside and the caps are glazed reversely as you can see below. The caps are hand carved to leave a pattern reminiscent of an acorn and I just love how the glaze breaks over this texture.

Next up is a sweet selection of palm sized acorns in a variety of clays. They work great on their own, but are so good as a small collection. I especially like them paired with a wooden bowl like here.

Going along with the acorn theme is of course also an oak leaf. Here a sweet platter that is decorative on its own, but also a great vessel to hold an acorn or two or your favorite snack. The shape is based on my hand drawing and inspired by some oakleaves I collected in Denmark last year.

This year I came up with some mini acorns that you can hang on the three or anywhere else. I love how the raw clay paired with a warm honey glaze on the caps.

Next in the collection, we are moving into the folk art-y patterns. This is something I want to explore even more. On this platter, all the patterns are my hand drawings. I call this the Fox and Hare cookie platter.

Next up are some pumpkins - hollow and wheel thrown. I think of these pumpkins as "gourdy pumpkins" because they are a bit of a mix of a gourd and a pumpkin. It is such an organic shape.

Rounding out the collection are a flock of mushrooms. They come in two sizes and several color ways as you see below although not all of them are in this picture.

Here is the collection so far and I can not wait to built it out in the years to come. I am so enamored with this folk art-y nature theme.
